- Heather Gillespie
Heather has always been an athlete, working long hours in the gym to maintain her fitness. When she received a CrossFit membership for Mother’s Day in 2008, she discovered a whole new model for getting and staying fit. Heather calls this gift “the best I’ve ever received, other than my son.”
Her first experiences at CrossFit were a little humbling. Having always seen herself as a pretty fit
individual, she was surprised to find some fairly gaping holes in her physical ability. Rather than become discouraged, Heather chose to pursue this new approach to fitness with vigour. What she quickly discovered from her mentors and fellow CrossFitters was that: Fitness is a journey that is best shared with others, Progress can be measured through the setting new of goals and the realizing of old ones and true fitness promotes daily self competition, self reflection and self refinement.
She also discovered along the way that in addition to gaining greater physical capacity CrossFit increased her confidence and quality of life. Heather no longer focuses on the aesthetic payoffs she was seeking in previous fitness ventures. She now trains solely for performance. Improved appearance is just a bonus.
Heather has exploded onto the international scene in the world of competitive Crossfit. She began her competitive journey with a 19th place finish at a suspiciously programmed 2010 Canadian Region Crossfit Games Qualifying Competition. In 2011, Heather reached the podium at the Regional Competition with a third place finish - one spot short of qualifying for the Crossfit Games. This was obviously not a discouraging outcome as she placed 2nd in 2012 with a very consistent, dominant and inspiring performance. Heather will become the first ever Crossfit athlete from Southern Alberta to compete at the World Crossfit Games this July in Los Angeles.

Sean Andrews
Sean O’ grew up playing sports (hockey, soccer, volleyball, rugby, motocross) and working out with the masses on machines in the gym. When he is not CrossFitting he can be found in the outdoors fishing, hunting, hiking, camping and dirt biking. Currently, Sean O is a 2nd class stationary /steam engineer working at the local distillery as a process operator.
In Late 2004 Sean began running as a sport and has participated in numerous marathons and ½ marathons. During Sean’s time as a competitive time runner he posted numerous top times and qualified for the Boston Marathon. It was in 2008 when Sean O’ first found CrossFit and began to see a new method of achieving great results with fewer injuries. One CrossFit class was all it took to convince Sean O’ that there was more to training and exercise than just running.
Since 2008 Sean O’ has embraced CrossFit as a lifestyle change and not just a “gym” or “workout regime”. Through the CrossFit mantra Sean O’ has found a balance between nutrition and fitness, and running and strength training. One of the largest draws of CrossFit for Sean O’ is the community oriented atmosphere of CrossFit that spans across the globe. Athletes no matter what demographic, skill level, age or fitness can compete in any WOD (due to scalability) side by side. Sean loves the ability and opportunity afforded by CrossFit to continue educating himself on performance and the human body. Despite Sean O’s quiet demeanor he is a wealth of knowledge waiting to be tapped.
